I’ve been having slight problems developing her character and like this would be perfect! she’s too perfect on the outside, beautiful, all the guys want her but her dad won’t let her get close to any but she also isn’t interested in any because she’s too smart for that. her godmother is her mothers best friend, aka a fashion designer so Eleanor loves fashion, she might not wear something if it’s not designer name, which causes many late days to school, but she also has this darker side that no one knows about because shes afraid to tell them. she likes danger and fighting ….

I think one of the reasons why a lot of trans kids dye their hair and/or get body jewelry is that it’s probably the most accessible way to modify ourselves.

native, latina, and black girls have been pushing boundaries and trends with what little monetary means we have for as long as the collective american fashion memory exists; it’s been us who have been making and wearing jewelry considered gaudy, cheap, and obnoxious, it’s been us making fashion statements our of dollar tube tops and high waisted leggings, it’s been us doing our hair tight or big, we are the origin of resourcefulness, girls on reservations and in the poorest neighborhoods were drawing on their beauty marks and getting glossy long before girls on instagram, we are queens of the dollar store and beauty shop, and it astounds me that not only are these looks being taken without a nod to the source, they are being put at designer price points. meanwhile we’re still out here doing our highlighter with two dollar shimmer eye shadow and scrubbing thrifted white adidas shoes clean with plastic toothbrushes, and we’re looking great

Straight hair is not tied with any cultural or political significance. You can not appropriate straight hair. There was never a day on this planet that a white girl was denied space, opportunity or access to anything because her hair was blonde and straight. Let’s stop pretending and being petty just because someone told you wearing cornrows was offensive. It is not like you don’t have a whole life of privilege waiting for you when you return to straight hair.
